About Me

I am an Integrative Counsellor / Psychotherapist,  with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a BA Hons Degree from Greenwich University in Counselling.   During my training I studied different psychological theories about people and their development.  This enables me to approach each client as an individual and work with them in a way that best suits their needs.   I am a professional, non judgemental, creative, enthusiastic counsellor.  I am passionate about my work and determined to support my clients in every way possible to help them find a ‘better way to be’.

WHAT TO EXPECT

I believe that as humans we are all equipped with the inner resources we need to make changes.  My role is to provide you with the right container to make those changes.   Low mood, depression, stress and anxiety are signs that something is wrong, missing or broken in your life.

Coming for counselling (or therapy) is to make a commitment to work on improving your mental and emotional health and wellbeing.  To try to fix what is broken,  put right what is wrong, or identify what is missing.

The expectation is that you will attend weekly sessions that will usually take place at the same time each week and last for 50 minutes, I will work collaboratively with you.  You will be able to talk freely and openly in complete confidentiality about what is troubling you.  I will work in a relationship with you, and that relationship will provide you with the means for change.

HOW COUNSELLING WORKS WITH ME

My aim is to help my clients get in touch with their ‘real’ or ‘true’ self.

In therapy I will encourage you to tell me your ‘story’ – everyone has their own unique story to tell and it is only you who fully know your own experiences  –  you are the main character in your story.  This may sometimes mean talking about things that are painful, or that you may have suppressed.  Every event, happening, experience or relationship that has happened to YOU will have played a part in making you into the person you are now.

By listening to your story,  with empathy, and without judgement, I will help you recognise how past experiences and relationships may be impacting on you now.  How your patterns of behaviour may be counterproductive or unhelpful and are affecting the choices you make.

I can help you become more self aware and more hopeful about the future, I can give you support and techniques to manage your feelings and to move forward.
